Overview
This position is a great opportunity for a Registered Dietician to educate diabetes patients on improving quality of life through diet and nutrition.
ResponsibilitiesFunctions in the specialty role of Diabetes Educator by providing direct patient care in the acute care and ambulatory settings based on consultative requests from the medical staff. Works closely with the entire medical staff and nursing staff to prepare patients for discharge in a safe, efficient manner. Provides tools and skills for homecare to patients and families. Makes recommendations to hospital staff for changes in diabetes management.
Serves as an educational and informational resource to all hospital staff and the community.
Minimum
Education Required:
Graduate of a Nursing program with an emphasis on diabetes education or Bachelors of Science in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field.
Minimum Experience
Required:
Experience as dietician or diabetes nutrition.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law: Current License as Registered Dietitian (RD), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), or Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), or RN with emphasis on diabetes education.
Additional Qualifications- Two (2) years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Experience in Diabetes Education preferred.
