Department Information – Educational Requirements- High school diploma with two years of experience and one of the following certifications:
- AAMA – American Association of Medical Assistant
- CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- Med Ca – Medical Career Assessment
- NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant
- RMA – Registered Medical Assistant
- Maintain confidentiality
- Detail‑oriented
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 or more years of previous experience in a clinical setting, including correctional clinical experience
- Experience with electronic medical records is preferred
- Bi‑lingual a plus
As part of the facility clinical team, this position is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment. Provides support to the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or other providers as needed. Evaluates and prepares patients for providers. Patient triage includes taking vital signs, recording patient interview/complaints, and preparing patients for exams/procedures. Processes lab requests, performs venipuncture, routine screening tests, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, and dressing changes as ordered.
Prepares and administers medications as prescribed and documents times and amounts on patient records. Enters clinical data into the electronic medical record, maintaining accurate and complete documentation. Assists with administrative clerical duties, answering phones and scheduling appointments as needed.
