Independent execution of laboratory procedures for which trained and competency demonstrated. Perform laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting, and analyzing in an accurate and timely manner.
QualificationsEducation
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- Sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life/biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred
Work Experience
- No experience required beyond education/training requirement Required
- 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist in a clinical laboratory Preferred
- Competent in areas of the laboratory being covered, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, microbiology Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- MTA - Medical Technologist Certification by the ASCP, AMT or AAB according to Georgia regulations. Required
- MLS - Medical Lab Scientist Certification by the ASCP, AMT or AAB according to Georgia regulations. Required
- Temporary classification as technologist/technician for up to 18 months after relocation or completion of requirements to complete an approved qualifying exam. Required
- AAB provisional certification not accepted.
