Job Summary

The School of Computer and Cyber Sciences at Augusta University invites applications for two tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in Biomedical Systems Engineering. The selected candidates will demonstrate the potential for sustained research excellence as well as a commitment to quality in undergraduate and graduate education. The target appointment date is Fall 2024.

Augusta University has embarked on an ambitious, multi‑year effort to significantly expand its computing, cybersecurity and data science activities. Responsibilities
  • Teaching
    :
    Teach during the academic year as assigned by the Dean, including all duties and obligations expected of a college professor such as grading, maintaining regular office hours, class preparation, and following university policies regarding teaching.
  • Service
    :
    Provide service to the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences and Augusta University as requested by the Dean, as well as service to the profession, including local, regional and national/international leadership within the discipline.
  • Research
    :
    Sustain persistent scholarship leading to national and international recognition and impact. Key measures of success include publications and presentations appropriate to your field, including articles on instruction and other activities.
Required Qualifications

PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Cybersecurity.

Rank‑Specific Requirements
  • Assistant Professor
    :
    Doctoral degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, computer engineering or related disciplines. Must have an active research program with publications in high‑quality venues (journals and conference proceedings).
  • Associate Professor
    :
    Doctoral degree in the same fields. At least five years at the assistant professor rank or comparable training. Must have an active externally‑funded research program, a strong publication record, and be visible within the research community (membership on technical program committees, etc.). Must mentor graduate students and lead them to graduation.
  • Professor
    :
    Doctoral degree in the specified fields. At least five years at the associate professor rank or comparable training. Must have an active externally‑funded research program with competitive federal or state funding, an outstanding publication record, leadership roles in the research community (chairing program committees, editorial board service), and a proven record of mentoring doctoral students to graduation.
Required Faculty Employment Qualifications for All USG Institutions
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher.
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and proficiency in all other duties assigned.
  • Successful experience (waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
  • Academic year based; typically works August through May.
  • Full‑time equivalent (FTE) is 1.0.
  • Salary for each rank is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and is subject to availability of funds.

  • Full‑time employees with more than 6 months of service may qualify for the Tuition Assistance Program.
  • Rank and salary determined at hire time based on experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, internal equity, and market data.
