The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in General Dentistry. The physical address for this position is at Mercy Heart Clinic, 2796 GA Highway 20 SE, Conyers GA 30013. Teaching responsibilities include presentation of didactic and clinical education to predoctoral students, postgraduate residents, and peers.
This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Patient care; interprofessional collaboration, clinical workflows and the ability to lead and mentor clinic staff, implementation and assessment; student monitoring and assessment.

All aspects of clinical dentistry related to General Dentistry in support learning, scholarship, patient care, service.

Strategic thinking and problem solving, implementing innovative solutions to contemporary challenges, outstanding communication.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 95%
Perform a general dental care to qualified Mercy Heart Clinic MHC patients as a direct provider and support the experiential learning of pre-doctoral students and/or dental residents that rotate through the facility by supervising the oral healthcare they provide to MHC patients. Develop, administer and provide informal/formal student performance assessment. Support DCG program didactics and clinical protocols.
Service - 5%
Participate in Department, DCG, and AU committees and complete Annual Compliance Training.
Required Qualifications
US DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent)
At least 5 years experience practicing comprehensive General Dentistry.
The candidate must have an unrestricted Georgia dental license or be eligible for such licensure prior to starting.
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
* Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
* Evidence of ability as a teacher;
* Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
* Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
* Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Significant clinical experience, post-graduate training in general dentistry or prior experience in dental education and working knowledge of practice management.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. Amount of time worked is based on work commitment.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is between 0.5-0.74 FTE and is considered partially benefits eligible. The FTE will be determined at the time of hire after discussions during the interview process with the successful candidate. The selected candidate will select from a retirement plan and accrue leave at a prorated amount based on finalized FTE.
Assistant Professor
- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor
- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor
- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.
