Westminster Schools of Augusta is a Pre‑K through 12 regionally accredited, coeducational, college‑preparatory, Christian day school enrolling close to 650 students. The 34‑acre campus is located in the residential section of Augusta, which is Georgia’s second largest metropolitan area. The school is affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Augusta (PCA), but the student body and faculty include members from more than 90 different local churches of various denominations.

We are interested in receiving applications from Christian school educators who view their calling as teaching and discipling students for the advancement of God’s kingdom as we equip students to live extraordinary lives for Jesus Christ. Such educators with sound academic credentials who desire to serve in an academically challenging, Christian environment with highly engaging and responsible students should apply.

Westminster seeks an experienced, energetic Lower School Art Teacher for the  school year. An ideal candidate would also be able to fill other openings such as the coaching positions.

General Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field.
  • Valid teaching certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in various art mediums and techniques.
  • Prior experience teaching art at the elementary level is preferred.
  • Evidence of a mature personal Christian faith consistent with the WSA Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school administration and colleagues.
  • Ability to connect and communicate with students and to partner with parents.
  • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives.
  • Plan and implement age‑appropriate instructional strategies to achieve the curriculum goals.
  • Assess and evaluate student's performance regularly.
  • Ability to use technology in the classroom as an instructional tool.
  • Set and maintain acceptable standards of classroom behavior conducive to an orderly learning environment.
  • High standards of professional conduct and strong commitment to advancing the school mission.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Artistic Instruction:
    • Develop and implement engaging art lessons for elementary students, fostering their creativity and self‑expression.
    • Teach fundamental art techniques, including drawing, painting, and sculpture, tailored to various grade levels.
  • Faith Integration:
    • Infuse Christian values into art lessons, connecting artistic expression with biblical principles.
    • Encourage students to explore and reflect on the intersection of faith and creativity through their artwork.
  • Classroom Management:
    • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and respect for one another.
    • Effectively manage class time to maximize learning opportunities while maintaining a well‑organized and visually stimulating art studio.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, integrating art across the curriculum to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences.
    • Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on students’ progress and showcasing their artistic achievements.
  • Extracurricular Involvement:
    • Coordinate and lead art‑related extracurricular activities, such as art clubs, exhibits, or community projects, fostering a sense of community and pride in students’ artistic accomplishments.
