Job SummaryAugusta University (AU) Libraries seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to serve as the University Records Manager. This position is responsible for coordinating Augusta University's records management program and University Libraries archives program. It serves as the principal advisor to the University on records management policies and practices, including compliance with legal records requirements and state and federal laws and regulations.
This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

- Teaching - 70% Develop, maintain, and support a comprehensive archives program for University Libraries
- Provide leadership for policies, workflows, and processes related to arranging, describing, preserving, managing, and providing access to archival materials regardless of format
- Build relationships with offices, departments, programs, and initiatives around campus in the development, support, and promotion of archival collections
- Provide and assist with reference, research, and instruction services related to archival collections
- Provide leadership and expertise on records management issues to the University community
- Develop, implement, and maintain institution-wide records management program, policy, and procedures
- Communicate with and advise other administrative units, including University leadership, on the appropriate management and disposition of records to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations and the University System of Georgia (USG) Records Retentions Schedules
- Scholarship/Research/Creative Activity - 10% Conduct scholarly research relevant to areas of responsibility or interest and disseminate research by contributing to the professional literature, presenting at conferences, and/or producing other scholarly outputs
- Service - 10% Engage in service to the libraries, the university, and the profession, primarily through committee work
- Professional Development - 5% Actively engage in professional development through attendance at conferences, workshops, and/or other learning opportunities
- Student Success - 5% Contribute to student success at the university
- American Library Association accredited Masteregree, or equivalent graduate degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge of archival theory and best practices.
- Experience with archival metadata standards.
- Authoritative understanding of records management principles, practices, and policies, including retention schedules.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws impacting records management and disposition (e.g., FERPA and HIPAA).
- Assistant Professor
- Early level career as a faculty member with 3-5 years of experience - Associate Professor
- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
- Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
- Certified Records Manager (CRM) designation
- Working understanding of digital records and systems.
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
