The Medical College of Georgia, Division of Cardiology at Augusta University is currently seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. This position will provide advanced heart failure services at the Wellstar MCG Medical Center including maintaining a robust Out-patient Heart Failure practice, attending on the Heart Failure In-Patient Consult Service, participating in the CVICU attending schedule, and participating in the cardiology and VAD call schedules commensurate to your colleagues.

Other opportunities exist for cardiac imaging, teaching and/or clinical research. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

Responsibilities

- Support the Advanced Heart Failure service, a non-transplant academic program.

- Evaluate and manage patients with advanced heart failure, as well as pre- and post
- Transplant and VAD patients in collaboration with an affiliated referral transplant center.

- Participate in the cardiac care unit and inpatient services.

- Teach cardiovascular fellows.

- Other options include staffing our high-volume Echocardiography laboratory and diagnostic right heart catheterizations and biopsies and an opportunity to pursue clinical research.

- The candidate should have a strong interest in patient care and clinical outcomes, and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.

Required Qualifications

MD, DO or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Advanced Heart Failure Board Certified or Board Eligible. Active license to practice in the state of Georgia or meet all eligibility requirements.

Assistant Professor
- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.

Associate Professor
- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Professor
- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

- Evidence of ability as a teacher;

- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor
- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor
- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor
- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
