Job Summary
The Campus Assistant Dean for Curriculum for the Wellstar Kennestone Campus will serve as MCG's administrative presence on the campus. The role reports directly to the Associate Dean for Curriculum and has administrative reporting responsibilities to the MCG Associate Dean for Regional Campus Coordination.
LocationWellstar Health System, Wellstar Kennestone Campus.
Responsibilities- Administer a geographically separated clinical campus that complies with all LCME expectations.
- Oversee academic administration for MCG medical students at the Wellstar Kennestone Campus, including all clinical teaching sites and teaching faculty.
- Develop, implement, and assess all clinical teaching experiences for MCG medical students at sites in NW Georgia, continuously improving quality based on student evaluations and faculty feedback.
- Maintain on‑going medical staff CPD in education skills for voluntary clinical faculty members, including the annual Jekyll Island MCG Faculty Development Conference.
- Liaise with MCG to coordinate and oversee student educational experiences in the region and program with other regional and 4‑year MCG campuses.
- Collaborate with curriculum and regional campus leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate high quality clinical learning experiences.
- Interact closely with MCG students during rotations in the Wellstar Kennestone Health System, ensuring timely completion of evaluations and compliance with learning objectives.
- Develop and implement student support services including advising, counseling, and healthcare.
- Engage in educational scholarship related to development, implementation, and assessment of innovative educational programs.
- Attend scheduled meetings at MCG in Augusta bi‑monthly to participate in the monthly Curriculum Oversight Committee and Dean's staff meetings.
- Report annually on regional campus program progress, including operating costs and staffing support required.
- Participate in AAMC Group on Regional Medical Campuses activities and other medical education professional development meetings.
- M.D., D.O., Ed.D., or Ph.D. terminal degree.
- Academic qualifications necessary for an MCG faculty appointment.
- Commitment to educational excellence.
- Faculty role model demonstrated by teaching and mentoring medical students, faculty development, and educational administration.
- At least 5 years of experience in academic program administration at an LCME‑accredited medical school; curriculum and/or program development experience preferred.
- Willingness to travel to Wellstar Health System teaching sites about 2 days per week and to travel to MCG at least bi‑monthly.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Collaboration with dean staff peers and faculty.
- Multi‑tasking at on‑campus and off‑site venues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Data collection and management skills to track site development and performance outcomes.
- Team building and conflict resolution skills.
- Strategic resource prioritization for program support through the annual budgetary process.
This fiscal‑year based position works year‑round. The full‑time equivalent is 1.0. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and is subject to availability of funds.
