The Program Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for program implementation and operations. The Program Coordinator provides technical, professional, and programmatic guidance, consultation, and support in accordance with the Georgia Department of Community Health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the program in its entirety.
  • Reviews all required documentation for the yearly on-site and/or desktop review.
  • Assists instructors in resolving any student issues.
  • Compiles material presented for the approval and/or re-approval for the program.
  • Ensures proper instruction is taking place and documents progress for all students and classes.
  • Assists with recruitment and selection process of students for each class.
  • Develops, secures, and maintains the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material.
  • Encourages learning by preparing appropriate syllabi and developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students' educational experience in the classroom.
  • Develops and executes appropriate methods of evaluating students' performance according to requirements of Helms Career Education and Georgia Department of Community Health policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates clinicals, times, and testing preparation.
  • Coordinates other instructors' schedules (if applicable) and classes.
  • Motivates students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
  • Keeps Program Manager informed of any curriculum or student code of conduct issues.
  • Is familiar with all emergency procedures posted in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with two (2) years of nursing experience.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience as an RN must be in a long-term care facility.
  • Must have experience in teaching adults and/or supervising nurse aides.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time while meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and some weekend assignments.
