Job SummaryThe Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor as a board-certified faculty member with training in vascular stroke neurology with outstanding clinical acumen, excellence in education and research, and a strong commitment to clinical operations and patient access optimization. The faculty member will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.
This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
- Pursuing your passion as related to our clinical, research, and educational missions
- Evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of adults with stroke or vascular disorders
- Attending on the inpatient PCU or ICU stroke service
- Providing ambulatory care for children with epilepsy
- Providing inpatient stroke consultation
- Education of residents, medical students, and fellows
- Pursuit of external funding to support clinical services and research programs
- Representing the department of neurology on committees as requested by the chair
- Attending Department faculty meetings and other scholarly events and conferences
MD/ DO or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Must have or be able to obtain a medical license in the state of Georgia, obtain a federal DEA, and be CPR certified. Successful candidates will have a proven history of excellent clinical skills, involvement with clinical research, and strong desire to be involved with resident teaching.
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
