Job DescriptionThe Provost and faculty of Paine College invite applications for one of two new positions as Assistant Research Professor of Cybersecurity, Business or Computer Science.
Chosen scholar/practitioner is expected to teach undergraduate courses initially which may include evening, weekend and/or hybrid courses; advise students; conduct socially significant research; engage in teaching practices with an acute focus on documenting student learning; serve on faculty committees; attend departmental, faculty and other meetings, attend College convocations, and pursue professional service opportunities at the local, regional, and national levels. Graduate teaching will be expected as soon as appropriate institutional accreditation expansion is completed.

Augusta, GA is a regional center for medicine, biotechnology, and cybersecurity. Located near the Georgia/South Carolina border (Central Savannah River Area). Nestled along the banks of the Savannah River, Augusta is the second largest (202,000+ according to the 2020 Cenus) and oldest city in Georgia. Located in the east central section of the state, Augusta is approximately 150 miles east of Atlanta on Interstate 20.
Augusta is also centrally located just two and a half hours from the beach and the mountains.
The area is also home to the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE), the U.S. Army's force modernization proponent for Cyberspace Operations, Signal/Communications Networks and Information Services, and Electronic Warfare (EW), and is responsible for developing related doctrine, organizational, training, materiel, leadership/education, personnel, and facility solutions.
Preferred Qualifications- An earned doctorate in cybersecurity, computer science, business or closely related field from a R1 university is preferred. Masters in Cybersecurity, computer science or business or related field required.
- Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Three years of full-time, paid, in-field work experience is desired. Work experience should include those competencies, skills, and knowledge levels that the instructor will be expected to teach.
Under the general supervision of the Provost:
- Produces fundable research that secures private and public investment in the College.
- Works with the Provost and others to develop new degree programs, courses, instructional materials, and evaluation tools; assists with the preparation of course proposals, curriculum updates and the construction of degree/certificate programs.
- Teaches assigned Cybersecurity courses and associated labs; informs students in writing of instructional standards; posts and maintains office hours; participates in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Applies and maintains standards of quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures; implements changes as necessary to maintain a successful cybersecurity program; integrates knowledge of industry trends and professional training to continuously improve program and course quality.
- Contributes to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and building of hardware and software necessary for the successful deployment of all Cybersecurity courses.
- Participates in the recruitment of prospective cybersecurity students. This includes, but is not limited to, working with partner institutions in the development and maintenance of a sustainable recruiting model.
- Other responsibilities include serving on college committees, advising students, supervising undergraduate student research projects, and performing other duties as assigned.
- Completes professional development training as required
