Job Summary

The Medical College of Georgia's Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at Augusta University seeks a full‑time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to support teaching, scholarship, and service programs in response to anticipated growth in primary care services throughout the CSRA region. Clinician Educators in the DFCM provide academic support in all years of MCG's curriculum, including preclinical electives, interdisciplinary required courses, a six‑week Family Medicine distributed clerkship, hospital and ambulatory electives, research, public and population health, and vulnerable population electives.

This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical (60%): Patient Care. Seeing private patients and precepting residents; provide clinical care for a panel of patients based on cFTE.
  • Teaching (40%): UME instruction and other efforts; precept residents and medical students in the DFCM Clinics; provide didactic education to medical students and residents periodically; participate in the creation of scholarly activity.

  • Work independently and seek consultation when necessary.

  • Maintain effective relationships with patients and other members of the care team.
  • Engage patients in therapeutic relationships when appropriate.

Required Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Pediatric Residency Program.
  • Board certified (or board‑eligible) by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
  • Eligible for licensure in Georgia and credentialing at MCG's partner Academic Medical Center.
Assistant/Associate/Professor Eligibility
  • Assistant Professor:
    Early‑level career faculty with appropriate postgraduate training.
  • Associate Professor:
    Mid‑level career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable experience.
  • Professor:
    Senior‑level career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Teaching medical learners, especially residents.

    Conditions of Employment

    All selected candidates must successfully pass a background check review. For positions requiring a credit check, credit verification is required. Motor‑vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving an Augusta University vehicle. For faculty hires, final candidates must provide proof of completed academic degrees and post‑secondary coursework in the form of original transcripts. Foreign‑trained candidates must provide an educational/credential evaluation.
