Job SummaryThe Department of Pathology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the section of Clinical Pathology. The successful candidate will possess strong diagnostic skills and be expected to contribute to Augusta University's tripartite mission of teaching, research/scholarship, and patient care/service activities. This position does not meet the qualifications to be on tenure track.
The Department provides diagnostic clinical services to a 438-bed adult hospital, the 127-bed Children's Hospital of Georgia, and the Georgia Cancer Center. It promotes engagement in research and scholarly activities, with links to centers in Molecular Immunology/Immunotherapy, vascular biology, Biotechnology, and Genomic Medicine. The department maintains a long-standing partnership with the Charlie Norwood Veterans Administration Hospital.

- Expertise in blood banking and transfusion medicine.

- Teaching medical students and residents
- Foster innovation in clinical pathology and research.
- MD degree or equivalent.
- Board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
- Subspecialty certification in Blood Banking
- Experience in Transfusion Medicine
- Demonstrated academic productivity.
- Georgia medical license or eligibility for licensure to practice medicine in Georgia.
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
- Advanced training or certification in Transfusion medicine.
- Proven track record in extramural funding.
- Evidence of active engagement in research and scholarly activities.
- Strong collaborative skills with multidisciplinary teams.
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
