The Department of Neurology in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, Augusta, Georgia, seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, as a board certified/board eligible full-time Neurology physician to join our Epilepsy-focused clinical, teaching, and scholarly program. The position does not meet tenure track requirements. Responsibilities include clinical care, inpatient and outpatient service coverage, night/weekend/holiday call, and academic/teaching activities within the Medical College of Georgia and the Department of Neurology.
ResponsibilitiesPatient Care/Service:
- Pursue clinical, research, and educational missions related to epilepsy and neurology.
- Provide high-quality, comprehensive epilepsy care to improve quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
- Participate in assigned clinical duties: evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with movement disorders in the outpatient clinic.
- Meet all metrics for Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE), including attendance at quality meetings, documentation, completion of online training modules, and faculty meetings.
- Meet and maintain productivity targets as set by the department chair and MCG Dean's Office through clinical services.
- Promote professional relationships and referral patterns with Augusta University and external physicians.
- Provide prompt feedback to referring physicians.
- Provide education and training to residents, medical students, and staff, including clinical supervision, consultation, and didactics.
- Achieve and maintain teaching evaluation scores at or above the department mean.
- Attend 50% or more of weekly neurology Grand Rounds and monthly faculty meetings.
MD/DO or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Fellowship training in Epilepsy. Must have or be able to obtain a Georgia medical license, obtain a federal DEA, and be CPR certified. Successful candidates will have a history of excellent clinical skills, involvement in clinical research, and a strong interest in resident teaching.
Appointment levels (examples):
- Assistant Professor – Early career.
- Associate Professor – Mid career with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
- Professor – Senior career with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent.
Additional faculty employment qualifications for USG institutions:
- Aligned with SACSCOC accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of teaching ability.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and capability in duties assigned.
- Successful experience (waivable for early entrants who meet other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities based on interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
The position is year-round with a 1.0 FTE (full-time) commitment. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to funds availability. Rank and salary are determined at hire based on several factors, including experience, education, credentials, and market data.
