Job Summary

The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, seeks a full‑time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, who is board certified in Internal Medicine and is board eligible/certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism to join the faculty. This position is a clinician‑educator who will be involved in patient care, education & research.

Responsibilities include active participation in the endocrine inpatient consult service and endocrine outpatient clinics, actively participate in the division's educational conferences.

This is not a tenure track position.

Responsibilities

Patient Care - 80%

Provide clinical care on the Endocrine inpatient Consultative Service and in the outpatient clinics. Diagnose, treat and manage various endocrine disorders; analyze laboratory tests and diagnostic images. Perform ultrasound‑guided thyroid biopsies. Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records.

Teaching - 20%

Actively participate in the teaching activities of the Department of Medicine and Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism which includes students, residents and fellows; these activities will include bedside and didactic teaching. Participation in student education in the Medical College of Georgia.

Required Qualifications

MD or DO degree from an appropriately accredited institution. Board certified in Internal Medicine and certified/board eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.

  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)’s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional training/certification related to the performance of ultrasound/guided thyroid biopsy.
  • Certification to interpret bone densitometry examinations (CCD).
Shift / Salary / Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round.

The intended work commitment or full‑time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full‑time.

Assistant Professor – Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements.

The salary is subject to availability of funds.
