The Department of Pediatrics, Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia is actively seeking a board eligible/board certified faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, as a Pediatric Nephrologist. This position will support the education mission of Augusta University by providing education and training to fellows, residents, medical students and healthcare professionals in pediatric nephrology which includes but is not limited to: clinical supervision, consultation and didactics.
The position will also provide clinical services at Wellstar s Children s Hospital of Georgia and associated outpatient clinics which will include satellite clinics and telehealth. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
- Patient Care - 90%:
Provide clinical care for the pediatric nephrology patient population, including satellite locations, in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Responsibilities include diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disorders, consultations, acute care, ordering and interpreting labs, developing treatment plans, and patient/family education. Maintain and ensure relevant patient records are properly updated and share weekday, weekend and holiday emergent/after-hours call coverage. - Teaching/Instruction - 10%:
Provide mentorship, clinical supervision and consultation to residents, medical students and staff at AU; develop a more in-depth educational experience for trainees in pediatric nephrology; provide training to residents/medical students/staff at Wellstar Children s Hospital of Georgia in pediatric nephrology through didactics.
- Medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent) from an accredited medical school/university.
- Board Certified in Pediatrics, and Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology.
- Must have or be eligible for a State of Georgia medical license, federal DEA and PALS certification.
- Rank-specific qualifications:
Assistant Professor — early level;
Associate Professor — at least five years at rank or equivalent;
Professor — at least five years at rank or equivalent.
- Employment qualifications for all USG institutions: alignment with SACSCOC accreditation standards, evidence of teaching ability, scholarly activity, and other duties; consideration of personal qualities based on interview and recommendations.
This position is fiscal year-based and works year-round. The intended work commitment is 1.0 FTE and considered full-time. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to fund availability.
