Job SummaryThe Department of Dental Hygiene in the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a part‑time Instructor. The faculty member will teach didactic and clinical courses as assigned. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

- Teach didactic and clinical courses as assigned.
- Supervise and grade clinical skills performed by students in accordance with course objectives identified in the course syllabus.
- Uphold expected standards of professionalism, quality, and ethics and serve as a role model for students.
- Employ a variety of teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles.
- Remain in clinic for the duration of all clinical sessions.
- Monitor student performance and provide constructive feedback in a reasonable amount of time.
- Share information about students' needs, attendance and achievements with the director and other faculty members.
- Attend regularly scheduled faculty meetings.
- Participate in trainings, orientations and college required activities.
- Support the college and dental hygiene mission and initiatives.
- Graduate of a CODA accredited dental hygiene program.
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree in dental hygiene or related field.
- License to practice dental hygiene in the state of Georgia or eligibility for licensure.
- Current BLS certification.
- Three years of clinical dental hygiene practice.
- Evidence of ability as a teacher and scholar, as required by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for institutional accreditation.
- Successful experience in teaching and other duties (waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities judged on interview, biographical data and recommendations.
- Certification to administer local anesthesia in Georgia.
Part‑time:
This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round. Amount of time worked is based on work commitment.
The intended work commitment or full‑time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 0.40 and is not benefits eligible.
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.
Participation in the Georgia Defined Contribution Plan is mandatory for part‑time and temporary employees. The plan is a retirement plan for part‑time employees who work less than 50% and for temporary employees. Members contribute 7 ½ % of gross salary to the plan.

The DCG offers training in student clinics, resident care, and faculty practice and serves patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.
