Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service by promptly greeting guests, responding to questions and concerns courteously, and assisting guests in meeting their video gaming needs.
- Inform guests about special promotions, the trade‑in program, and recommend additional items as appropriate.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the POS computer system, ensuring top‑notch service.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefit programs, such as the new title reservations program and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and merchandised store environment, including restrooms, fixtures, and equipment.
- Complete Omni‑Channel orders, inventory counts, and restock merchandise to ensure products are represented, organized, and alphabetized on the selling floor.
- Safeguard company assets through inventory control, loss prevention practices, and proper bank deposit procedures.
- Support store management in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals while completing required administrative duties.
- Assist management with cash handling, bank deposits, and reconciliation of daily business transaction totals.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates in the absence of management; observe associate performance and provide timely feedback.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge is preferred.
- Ability to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional guest service skills and a genuine, friendly approach to each guest.
- Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment and meet performance expectations such as attendance and grooming.
- Proficient in operating the POS computer system and completing required paperwork.
- Basic math and alphabetizing skills.
- Self‑motivation and teamwork to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Problem‑solving skills, judgment, and the ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Compliance with bank deposit safety guidelines and loss prevention procedures.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum availability of 3 days per week.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and lift merchandise up to 30 lbs.
- Capability to remain effective under pressure and handle stress appropriately.
