Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Paint Mixing Attendant to join our Paint team in Auburn Washington
.

As a Paint Mixing Attendant, you will be a vital contributor to our operations, ensuring that every paint formulation meets the highest standards of quality and safety. Your role will involve leading a team in the precise mixing and tinting of paints for aircraft components, where your attention to detail and ability to see color accurately will be essential in achieving the desired colors and finishes.

You will be responsible for preparing surfaces, cleaning equipment, and maintaining an organized workspace, all while adhering to established safety protocols. Your expertise in operating mechanical lifts and utilizing various tools will enable you to efficiently manage the paint mixing process, ensuring that all materials are readily available and properly handled.

Position Responsibilities
  • Lead and work with assigned employees in paint mixing, inventory, and storage operations.

  • Perform and sequence work to formulate, tint, fill, and deliver paint color orders for aircraft interior components, exterior finishes, and spare parts.

  • Clean tank surfaces using appropriate solvents or detergents to ensure proper preparation for painting.

  • Formulate paint according to internal color lab or federal standards, ensuring compliance with quality requirements.

  • Maintain and perform accuracy tests of the color database using various tools and equipment.

  • Obtain Quality Assurance buyoff of paint to ensure it meets specified tolerances.

  • Assign batch numbers and maintain accountability systems for paint formulations.

  • Complete formula and safety data sheets for vendors or customers, detailing paint components and applicable warnings.

  • Order and maintain adequate stock of paints, thinners, and other supplies necessary for the paint shop.

  • Clean and maintain spray and mixing equipment, ensuring the work area is orderly.

  • Operate mechanical lifts to access work areas as required.

  • Create color test strips and perform color checks using micrometers and visual assessment methods.

  • Break down paint batches into appropriate sizes and generate requisite warning labels.

  • Organize and plan time to maintain workflow, considering dry times and shake times.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards
  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
