This hands‑on position is part of the Materials Management & Tooling team and involves interpreting blueprints and work orders, developing plans for tool fabrication and repair, troubleshooting production challenges, operating advanced machinery, and ensuring all tools meet stringent quality standards.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, repair, and maintain tools.
  • Perform all functions of tool fabrication, rework, and repair as required, including rebuilding and repairing hydraulic and vacuum fixtures.
  • Determine the sequence and coordinate tool fabrication work, obtain appropriate drawings and specifications.
  • Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials and machines to be used.
  • Use shop metrology equipment to reverse engineer.
  • Coordinate planning or engineering change requests and routine maintenance work with other internal support groups.
  • Fabricate and build tooling with dies such as push‑through, blanking, piercing, cut‑off, forming, joggle, deep draw, and compound dies; apply machining theory, mechanical systems, welding, and assembly for layout.
  • Read and interpret planning documents, drawings, tool orders, blueprints, sketches, specifications, engineering orders, and quality assurance manuals to determine methods and sequence of operations.
  • Lay out details, dimensions, and tooling points using shop mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry; set up and operate hand tools and power machine tools.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and inspect molds, jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies to required configuration, dimensions, tolerances, and finish; check work in progress and completed parts using precision measuring devices.
  • Record manufacturing data and statistics manually or with the aid of a computer‑based system; understand tolerance stack‑up and datum structures.
  • Work with jigs, fixtures, inspection check fixtures, and tooling dies; maintain a proven safety record and understanding of factory processes, safety rules, and requirements; have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards
  • Lifting tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10–15 lbs to 15–35 lbs.
  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.
Export Control Compliance

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. A US Person includes a US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in repairing, maintaining, construction, and/or the inspection of tools, dies, jigs, powerfeed, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in machine shop processes, geometric dimensioning & tolerances, and machining capabilities of different types of materials.
  • 2+ years of experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • 2+ years of experience using a complete set of toolmaker shop equipment (milling, lathe, precision, grinding, polishing, and fitting).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker.
  • Completed an approved Mold Maker or Tool and Die Maker state apprenticeship program and/or certified by the U.S.
