Organization and Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Materials Management and Transportation Manager to join our Integrated Aerostructures (IAS)/Advanced Metal Structures (AMS) team in Auburn, WA. Must be willing and able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays, and may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

The Materials Management and Transportation Manager will lead a team supporting both enterprise level initiatives and implementing high visibility fulfillment focused projects, developing and executing integrated organizational plans and solutions to enable business objectives. This role requires partnership with leaders across the enterprise and an active member of the Fabrication Division (Boeing Commercial Airplane) Fulfillment team. It will discover new opportunities and solutions for business problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking.

The role blends strategic thinking with on-the-ground execution, enabling the organizations to improve systems, business policies, processes, standard work and efficiencies to operate as One Boeing Supply Chain.

The successful candidate can join and lead teams, understand the strategic aspects of the organization and associated initiatives, work in a complex organization, and demonstrate knowledge of the company and multiple functional subject areas to meet supply‑chain management goals and internal and external customers’ expectations. Candidates must translate strategic goals into tactical actions that are understandable to the team.

Our team is currently hiring a Level K Materials Management and Transportation Manager.

Position Responsibilities
  • Manage and integrate employees’ activities across more than one area in materials management and transportation.
  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goals.
  • Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers, and lead process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manage, develop and motivate employees.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience)
  • 5+ years of experience with Supplier Management, Supply Chain and/or Procurement practices and processes.
  • Experience leading, directing, or managing hourly and/or salaried personnel.
  • 3+ years of experience with industry ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or an equivalent such as SAP.
  • Experience leading or managing projects that involved cross‑functional or cross‑business unit teams.
  • Experience in a role that required the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Degree.
  • 3+ years of experience demonstrating exceptional business, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • 3+ years leading critical projects.
  • 5+ years of experience with materials planning or inventory control process role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with safety and quality processes.
  • Aerospace or manufacturing experience.
  • Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
