The Ophthalmic Technician is a vital member of the eye care team, responsible for assisting ophthalmologists in the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions. They perform various clinical and technical duties to ensure the efficient delivery of eye care services.
Work LocationsFederal Way and Auburn
Work HoursMonday to Friday. No Weekends.
Roles And Responsibilities- Perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flow.
- Conduct other diagnostic testing such as visual fields, OCT, corneal topography, and venipuncture.
- Assist with inventory of ophthalmic supplies, including pharmaceuticals and instruments.
- Provide phone support for prescription refill requests as authorized by the physician.
- Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, such as HIPPA guidelines, to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
- One year experience as an ophthalmic technician required.
- One year experience in a customer‑facing position preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to stay focused.
