AboutThe Role
The Rate Specialist plays a key role in supporting our pricing operations by preparing accurate rate quotes, rating, and auditing freight bills, and ensuring customers receive timely, professional service. This position requires strong attention to detail, solid communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced logistics environment. This position does not include supervisory duties.
What You’ll Do- Prepare and deliver rate quotes for internal teams and external customers
- Rate freight bills with accuracy and consistency
- Audit completed bills to ensure correct pricing and documentation
- Analyze land costs and apply appropriate pricing rules
- Provide courteous, professional customer support via phone and computer
- Create and distribute written rate sheets as needed
- Maintain and update tariffs to ensure current, accurate information
- Support general customer service functions, including answering incoming calls, researching and resolving pricing issues, handling special requests, reviewing and approving vendor invoices as required
- Collaborate with coworkers and other departments to support operational needs
- Follow all company safety procedures and guidelines
- Prepare corrections and updates to billing or pricing documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Basic math proficiency
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Windows

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Additional education or vocational training preferred
- One to two years of general office experience required
- Minimum two years of transportation or freight industry experience required
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Ability to independently lift up to 20 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Ability to use proper lifting techniques
- Ability to sit at a desk and work at a computer for extended periods (accommodations available)
- Preferred:
Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to outdoor elements and exhaust fumes

Hourly Range is posted for this position in Washington. The hourly rate will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
