Title of Position:
Nursing Lab Instructor (Adjunct Faculty)

Function of Position:

* A part-time Nursing Lab Instructor teaches and evaluates students in the nursing lab under the direction of the Nursing Lab Coordinator.

* Teaching Responsibilities

* Facilitate student learning within the nursing department's mission, philosophy, and conceptual framework.

* Implement student-centered learning activities to achieve learning of clinical skills.

* Facilitate guided practice of clinical skills.

* Evaluate student competency of clinical skill performance using instructor guidelines, procedure criteria, and grading rubric under the direction of the Nursing Lab Coordinator.

* Communicate student progress to Nursing Lab Coordinator

* Provide technical support as needed to facilitate learning.

Departmental Responsibilities

* Attend Nursing Lab meetings

* Attend nursing departmental meetings as desired

* Serve on nursing ad hoc committees as desired

* Attend annual Professional Advancement Pinning Ceremony

Professional Responsibilities

* Maintain clinical competency of skills performed in the Nursing Lab

* Pursue continuing education in area of expertise

* Use evidence-based teaching practices

* Facilitate learning within the framework of the National League of Nursing Core Competencies for Nurse Educators

* Submit Nursing Adjunct Performance Appraisal at end of academic year in May one year after hired and every other year thereafter.

Requirements:

Qualifications

* Current New York State RN license

* BSN required, MSN or active progress/intent towards an MSN

* regionally accredited higher education institution

* Current related clinical experience
