Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Auburn, Maine. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in corporate tax, general ledger management, and financial reporting. As part of the retail industry, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant laws.

- Manage sales tax reporting and filing processes for the organization.

- Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain a consistent and accurate general ledger.

- Analyze and update the general ledger to ensure alignment with financial reporting standards.

- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies.

- Assist in preparing periodic financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.

- Monitor tax-related deadlines and ensure timely submission of all required documentation.

- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in accounting operations.

- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax regulations and accounting standards to ensure compliance.

- Provide support during audits by preparing and organizing relevant financial data. Requirements - Proven experience in corporate tax preparation and reporting.

- Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and filing procedures.

- Expertise in managing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy.

- Familiarity with financial reporting and accounting principles.

- Proficiency in accounting software and tools.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
