We are partnering with a well‑established, privately held construction organization to identify an experienced Accounting Manager / Controller to lead accounting operations and financial oversight. This is a hands‑on leadership role combining day‑to‑day accounting management with broader controller‑level responsibilities in a dynamic, project‑based environment.
What You’ll Do Accounting Operations & Team Leadership- Lead daily accounting operations including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, job costing, and certified payroll
- Own month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation
- Improve close efficiency, timelines, and accuracy through process improvements and automation
- Hire, develop, and manage accounting staff; review work product and ensure appropriate cross‑coverage
- Support payroll and labor compliance processes, including certified payroll and timekeeping controls
- Maintain responsibility for GAAP‑compliant financial reporting and internal controls
- Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and service providers to support audits and filings
- Support treasury and cash management activities, including banking relationships and cash positioning
- Oversee insurance, audit, and compliance‑related processes and reporting
- Implement and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and automated data imports
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations and leadership to improve financial visibility and decision‑making
- Proven experience in an Accounting Manager, Controller, or blended role
- Strong hands‑on accounting background with ownership of close and reporting
- Experience improving processes, controls, and systems in a growing organization
- Prior exposure to construction, project‑based, or similar operational environments strongly preferred
- Comfortable balancing execution with leadership and cross‑functional partnership
