Job Description
The Maintenance Technician works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. He or she will troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. This is a night shift weekend crew position, 12-hour shifts working Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Shift hours are from 6:00 pm to 6:30 am. Starts on Thursday night at 6:00 pm and ends on Sunday morning at 6:30 pm. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED (with further technical coursework preferred); at least five years of experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, CNC equipment, programmable logic controllers, HMI and interfaces, Ethernet cable and termination, and strong electrical skills with high and low voltage systems;
good written/verbal communication and math skills; and the physical ability to perform the requirements of the job. Strong computer skills are required.
- Repairs or replaces control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, push-buttons, contractors, motor starters, etc., as needed
- Performs work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments
- Fabricates and modifies new and existing equipment as needed
- Participates in plant safety, health, and environmental programs
- Develops, prepares, and presents recommendations and reports as requested
- Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed
- Completes surveillance routes, filter changes, lubrication, and preventive maintenance tasks on plant equipment and machinery such as mills, lathes, grinders, conveyors, coolant systems, dust collectors, and pumps
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
- Maintains accurate records of test results and provides reports of results to the Lead Technician
- Repairs and maintains plant machinery and equipment such as generators, electric motors, air compressors, aircraft tugs, hydraulic equipment, and pumps.
- Repairs or replaces bearings, filters, coolant, screens, etc., as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate a plus
- At least five years of experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and basic electrical repair
- Able to read and interpret documents and drawings
- Able to write detailed repair reports
- Must have good mathematical skills, including basic algebra, to calculate electrical/electronic equations as needed
- Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software and the ability to learn how to effectively use maintenance software to input data and research parts is required.
- Able to stand, walk, reach above shoulder, climb, crawl, squat or kneel, and bend constantly; able to sit, handle/finger, and reach outward frequently
