Job Description
The Material Handler is responsible for loading and unloading material within a warehouse or storage facility and for effectively and efficiently staging all material at designated loading/unloading areas for distribution. Additionally, he/she provides support for shipments of materials to our customers, for physical inventory tracking, and for logistics on the weekdays/weekends.
Responsibilities- Assumes responsibility for site operations quality and for shipping and receiving activities to include all inbound and outbound material
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and all company policies
- Maintains excellent communications with various clients and other contacts
- Establishes and maintains standards and procedures that ensure the health and safety of everyone
- Coordinates site activities through planning and working with Team Leads to ensure the total production objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Facilitates ship ticket requests, bills of lading, and cycle counts and coordinates shipments to customers/vendors
- Performs other duties as assigned
- A high school diploma or GED is required with a minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook) or similar Windows-based software required.
- Experience using a variety of hand and power tools
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
- Proven leader and team player with a strong work ethic and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to willingly make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, and make timely decisions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both listening and speaking)
- Ability to handle objections and negotiate
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and a sense of urgency
- Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work
- Greater than five years of experience in the industry preferred
- Manufacturing/materials system experience preferred
- Forklift license (or willing to obtain a license)
