2026 Thompson Engineering Summer Collegiate Internship Program
The 2026 Thompson Engineering Summer Collegiate Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain meaningful, practical experience across a variety of disciplines. Interns work alongside experienced professionals on active projects, gaining exposure to both office-based and field-based work depending on their area of interest.
Internship Opportunities Are Available In The Following Focus Areas- Civil Engineering
- Environmental Engineering & Sciences
- Transportation Engineering
- Architectural & Building Sciences
- Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI)
- Field Services & Materials Testing
- Program & Project Management
- Assisting with engineering design, analysis, and technical documentation
- Supporting field inspections, data collection, sampling, and testing activities
- Assisting with construction observation, CEI reporting, and quality control documentation
- Preparing reports, plans, exhibits, and project deliverables
- Supporting project managers with scheduling, coordination, and administrative tasks
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on real client projects
- Learning industry standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements
- Hands-on experience on real-world engineering and infrastructure projects
- Mentorship from experienced engineers, scientists, inspectors, and project managers
- Exposure to multiple service lines and career paths within Thompson Engineering
- Professional development, networking opportunities, and potential future employment consideration
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework by Summer 2026 (preferred)
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work in both office and field environments, as applicable
- Valid driver's license (for field-based positions)
