Job Summary:
This position will be the sole member of the Accounting Department and have full responsibility for all things Accounting. The position will work closely with the Purchasing Manager, and report to the COO. This role requires an organized, detail-oriented self-starter with strong computer and communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic work environment. This position will evolve as the company grows and evolves.
- Process all invoices and ensure timely payment.
- Monitor monthly vendor statements and manage disputes when necessary.
- Provide bi-weekly draw summaries to lenders, request funds, and issue vendor payments.
- Manage all deposits and incoming funds.
- Reconcile monthly bank statements.
- Manage all operating and WIP accounts.
- Monitor budgets as invoices arrive and inform the COO if operating expenses exceed the budget.
- Prepare, monitor, and maintain all financial reports and statements, P&L, budgets, forecasts, etc.
- Review balance sheet daily to ensure costs and deposits are being classed and coded correctly.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and tax laws.
- Ensure vendor compliance with insurance requirements.
- Prepare the company for growth by evaluating systems and processes to ensure scalability. Implement new systems and processes as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry. We will consider candidates that are new to the construction industry if they meet other criteria as defined below.
- A formal education or degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, or equivalent 5+ years of experience.
- Must be comfortable using Quick Books and Buildertrend. Prior experience in these applications is preferred.
- Must have the ability to read, decipher, and prepare financial statements.
- Must be comfortable working in Excel, and advanced Excel skills are an advantage.
