Job Overview

To better serve the global auto industry electric vehicle trend in the United States, CATL, through its U.S.

-based subsidiary, CATK, is seeking a dedicated and experienced a Customer Clearance Specialist to support daily import/export customs clearance activities and ensure compliant, timely movement of goods. This role requires hands-on experience with U.S. customs processes and close coordination with brokers, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate has practical clearance experience, solid regulatory awareness, and strong execution capability, but does not need to be a senior-level expert.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish efficient storage mechanisms to ensure proper warehousing of parts and products.
  • Coordinate day-to-day import and export customs clearance activities for assigned shipments.
  • Prepare, review, and validate customs-related documents including commercial invoices, packing lists, HS codes, and entry summaries.
  • Provide data-driven decision support for logistics and overall supply chain strategy.
  • Apply foundational knowledge of manufacturing ERP systems, including SAP supply chain modules.
  • Work closely with customs brokers to ensure timely filing, release, and delivery of shipments.
  • Track clearance status and proactively follow up on delays, holds, or documentation gaps.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Support
  • Ensure clearance activities comply with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and company internal policies.
  • Support tariff classification, valuation, country of origin determination, and duty/tax calculation.
  • Assist with audits, inquiries, or documentation requests from customs brokers or authorities.
  • Flag potential compliance risks (e.g., missing documents, incorrect declarations) and escalate as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree min, Master’s degree preferred or in customs clearance, import/export operations, or international logistics.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in supply chain, warehouse management and ERP systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. customs clearance processes and CBP requirements.
  • Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
  • Familiarity with HS classification, duties, tariffs, and basic trade compliance concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Excel and basic logistics or ERP systems.
  • Good communication skills in English (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, battery, energy, or industrial supply chains.
  • Exposure to special trade programs (e.g., bonded shipments, FTZ, duty drawback, IMMEX, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of Incoterms and international shipping terms.
  • Bilingual (English / Chinese or Spanish) is a plus.

  • This is a mid-level specialist role, suitable for candidates who can independently handle routine clearance work with guidance on complex or exceptional cases.

  • Regular, predictable on-site attendance is an essential function of this role.
  • Ability to move throughout offices, manufacturing facilities, and construction areas, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs or ladders.

  • Ability to work in varied environments, including offices, industrial, and construction settings.
