Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Shift Leader assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the orientation experience and skill acquisition of the RCS staff in relation to maintaining the therapeutic program on an as‑needed basis. The Shift Leader also carries direct patient care assignments to facilitate awareness of program functioning.
- Satisfactorily completes all duties/responsibilities of a Residential Care Specialist job description.
- Under the direction of the Director of Residential Services, identifies problems of time, attendance, and job performance of the RCS staff and assists in developing a plan of action to resolve these issues.
- Supervises RCS in the completion of identified tasks and assumes responsibility for ensuring that completion.
- Keeps Program Director or RCS‑Supervisor apprised of all aspects of RCS performance.
- Assists in the orientation of new RCSs to unit/program philosophy.
- As delegated by the Program Director, identifies and conducts needed in‑services to comply with job tasks and program expectations.
- Maintains resident assignment and completes tasks as directed by the Director.
- In conjunction with Program Director, completes and delivers employee performance evaluations and competency assessments.
- Attends weekly treatment team conferences and provides input as directed by the Director.
- Under direction of the Program Director, assists in maintaining safe staffing standards within the program.
- Participates in continuing education opportunities in the hospital and in the community.
- High school diploma plus 4 years of experience in a child care institution, or
- Minimum of two years of college and 3 years in a child care institution;
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in a child care institution preferred. - Experience in an inpatient psychiatric or residential treatment program setting for two years preferred.
- At least an 18‑month experience in an RCS role or a position commensurate to the RCS role, required.
- Experience treating individuals with impulse disorder population preferred.
- Provision of a satisfactory motor vehicle operation report required.
