Position SummaryThe Mental Health Technician performs routine patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Duties include assisting with patient admissions, discharges, transfers, monitoring patients for potential aggressive behaviors, de‑escalating situations, reporting alterations in sensory perceptual images, ensuring safety, assisting with activities of daily living, and fostering independent behavior in a therapeutic environment.
Duties and Responsibilities- Follow instructions from nursing leadership and hospital policies.
- Report patient medical problems and changes in sensory perception to the Registered Nurse.
- Monitor safety issues and take action to prevent patient harm.
- Provide care that respects safety, patient rights, comfort, and a therapeutic environment.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers promptly and complete appropriate documentation.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prefer minimum two years of college in psychology, social work, mental health, or related fields.
- Experience with emotionally disturbed patients preferred.
