Company OverviewThe Auburn Hills Police Department (AHPD) provides the highest level of professional law enforcement services to the residents, businesses, students and visitors to the City of Auburn Hills. In 2019, AHPD became one of 19 police agencies out of more than 400 in the State of Michigan to become voluntarily accredited. This accreditation standard means that AHPD is continually striving to meet and exceed the best practice standards for law enforcement that have been established through the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police.
The department handles nearly 30,000 calls for service annually in service to a 16.64 square mile jurisdiction with more than 25,000 residents. AHPD prides itself on a community policing oriented approach to law enforcement with personnel routinely interacting with people in the city, hosting trainings around the city and providing a wide variety of law enforcement related programs. Our mission is to continually improve the safety and quality of life within our community, through a broad base of traditional and innovative services while protecting constitutional and basic human rights.
All members of this department will at all times stand accountable for their conduct.
Handles, accounts for and is responsible for all property including, but not limited to, evidence, contraband, recovered, stolen, found or items held for safe keeping. Also responsible for all narcotics, monies and submitting evidence to the crime lab, and disposal of property when appropriate. Assists in the administration with standard operating policies and procedures of the Department.
Preferred Qualifications- Must be 21 years or older at the time of employment
- Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State driver's license without record of suspension or revocation in any State
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years
- Must be able to read and write the English language
- Must be able to pass random drug tests
- Must be bondable
- Must have acceptable computer skills in word processing, database and spreadsheet
- Must be able to secure and maintain LEIN certification and security clearance
- Associates Degree in Business, Criminal Justice or related field
- Two years of general office or property management experience
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience
$24.95 - $30.31 per hour
Candidate will not start in this position until approximately April 2026.
