As a Patent Agent you will be responsible for implementing and following up the IP strategy for Product Groups/Product Lines/Research & Innovation of the Division (in agreement with IP Manager and IP Director of the related Division) while conducting the current IP actions as defined below, under the supervision of the IP Manager.

• Selection of the most appropriate type of protection (Patent, Design, Copyright, …) and best way to proceed
• Definition of the creation/inventions, preparation of the filings (drafting or subcontracting), filings, prosecutions
• Participation to the decisions regarding foreign filings,
• Definition of product coverage strategy with R&D/Projects
• Patent portfolio management

• Project studies in view of identified competitor patents
• Action for reorienting any project in case of infringement risk
• Patent clearances and IP Rights validity studies based on one or cluster of families and including risk assessment
• Contributions to Oppositions / Nullity suits against patents granted to third parties
• Study and follow-up of infringement claims and litigations

• Infringement detection and validity check of the files
• Offensive pre-litigation or litigation actions, in liaison with IP, Division Managements and other involved functions and according to Group rules

• Reviewing of IP clauses in agreements, Proposition of modifications in agreements
• IP training for R&D/R&I teams
• Applying the Environment Safety and Security procedures and good practices; known for their activities and the activities of subcontractors the potential risks and their consequences. Be attentive and responsive to them and manage the associated action plans.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field is required
• 3-5 years experience working within IP strategy, specifically in drafting applications and office action responses.
