- Work experience in manufacturing and costing field
- Solid technical knowledge of:
- Iron & aluminum casting
- Forging
- Machining, turning, grinding
- Stamping and welding processes
- Final assembly
- Knowledge of forming tools and fixtures and their related costs
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing from an ABET-accredited university
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in manufacturing or costing
- Experience in manufacturing processes combined with developing:
- Variable costs and/or tooling costs for automotive components
- Ability to transform manufacturing processes into specific costs
- Activity-based costing experience and cost model development
- Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple programs and cost details simultaneously
- Good leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and oral)
- Good level of proficiency in English
- Design-to-cost ability for new components
Job Description
- Develop technical variable and tooling costs for engine and adapted engine components and systems using activity-based costing methodologies
- Work from BOMs (Bill of Materials), drawings, and/or physical samples
- Provide subject matter expertise to support engineering, purchasing teams, and executive leadership throughout all development phases
- Analyze supplier quotes and reach agreement on appropriate EDD
- Participate in design-to-cost initiatives and benchmarking activities
- Develop piece cost and tooling cost estimates
- Understand elements of piece cost and investment for manufacturing processes used in driveline commodities
- Planning and prioritizing
- Assertive and persuasive communication
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business
- Proficiency in NX and Teamcenter
- Automotive industry experience
- Automotive cost reduction and should-cost experience
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with ability to make data-driven decisions
