The Thermal Performance Engineer will ensure that vehicle functional objectives are achieved and will recommend actions to the product team. The selected candidate will conduct reviews of functional systems (simulation and testing), review cooling system status with program chiefs, develop test plans with lab engineers, and execute annual hot‑trip tests for assigned programs. The engineer will also lead communications and reporting of issues, including status updates and driving issue resolution.
Responsibilities include proactive planning and tracking of vehicle validation, supporting aero/thermal attributes, and DVP&R testing and reporting.
- Vehicle thermal system instrumentation and testing
- BEV & ICE vehicle thermal system diagnosis and troubleshooting
- BEV energy consumption solutions
- Collaborate with program chiefs and lab engineers on test planning and execution
- Lead issue resolution communication and reporting
- Support active validation and tracking of vehicle attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Chauffeur’s license or willingness/ability to obtain one (good to have)
- Outstanding analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with thermal development, HVAC, or cooling systems
- Experience with data acquisition systems
- Experience with drive cell or wind‑tunnel testing
- Experience working with and directing bargaining‑unit mechanics
- Ability to work with cross‑functional teams
- Proven ability to lead teams
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills
- Always eager to learn and improve
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of thermal systems
- Understanding of heat transfer
- Understanding of testing and instrumentation
