Overview

Our team has built a strong culture of safety, professionalism, and personal responsibility. The Vehicle Test Assistant plays an integral role in helping our drivers test prototype vehicles. He/she simulates everyday city traffic and develops a sense of how to safely maneuver around vehicles that are running proprietary software and hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain Transdev’s high standard of safety inside and outside of the vehicle
  • Consistently demonstrate situational awareness and willingness to adjust to changes in the environment
  • Communicate courteously with management, engineers, and the public
  • Operate with safety as the primary goal
  • Work closely with vehicle safety operators, providing detailed and accurate feedback about the testing
  • Emulate pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists, and/or motor vehicle drivers
  • Set up/build small props
  • Adhere to the Autonomous Vehicle Division zero‑tolerance policy regarding alcohol or drugs and comply with randomized drug testing
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Required Education And Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Meet driver requirements, including driving record and criminal history under applicable regulations and laws
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving on public roads with a clean driving record
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

(KSAs)
  • Proficiency with using a touchscreen smartphone (Android preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to describe thoughts quickly and concisely
  • Capability to respond to multiple scenarios simultaneously
  • Adapt quickly to new and developing technology
  • Strong verbal and written communication and issue escalation skills
  • Ability to safely maneuver around autonomous vehicles
  • Work up to 45 hours per week, including walking, biking or driving on closed courses
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Self‑starter with good judgment in fast‑paced, high‑stress environments
  • Punctual, reliable, and a team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Travel up to 10% of the time
Physical Requirements
  • Talk, listen, and hear
  • Use repetitive hand motion, hand to finger, handle or feel, and sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, regular push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally climb stairs and/or ladders
  • Most work is accomplished outdoors
Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Must be 21 years old
  • All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre‑employment drug screen and background check. Safety Sensitive Positions will also be subject to a physical screening
  • Transdev maintains a Drug‑Free Workplace and may require participation in a random drug screening program
  • Transdev reserves the right to perform ongoing background checks for all employees except in states where this is prohibited by state law. Transdev will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements
  • Employees must maintain an acceptable driving record suitable to be approved to drive as part of their regular duties. Records are monitored on an ongoing or regular basis pursuant to local state law
  • Ability to qualify for an Autonomous Vehicle Tester (AVT) license in states and positions where it’s required
  • If based in the United States, applicants must be eligible to work in the US without restrictions for any employer at any time as required by the USCIS
