Job Description
Professional level sales position focused on supporting advanced functions of the DIY automotive business. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, automotive systems, and parts. Responsibilities include advanced identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers, sourcing parts from multiple suppliers, and in‑depth knowledge of inventory and maintenance processes. The position is full‑time.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls.
- Achieve personal/store sales goals and service objectives.
- Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, and wiper installs.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and store appearance.
- Key holder responsibilities: task assignment, safety oversight, open/close duties.
- Assist in store inventory processes: truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, back stock.
- Maintain store cleanliness: floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot.
- Provide DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installs.
- Friendly communication.
- Ability to locate and stock parts.
- Safety knowledge and skills.
- Operating inventory systems and store equipment.
- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
- Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
- ASE P2 certified or ASE‑ready equivalent.
- Advanced solution, project, and product quality recommendation ability.
- Advanced parts lookup and sourcing.
- Advanced selling skills for DIY.
Job Skills
- Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics (internal engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, exhaust).
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus) and communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals; write simple correspondence.
- Understand and execute instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Successfully complete the Parts Knowledge Assessment.
- Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure.
- Use Microsoft Word and Excel effectively.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- 3‑5 years of prior automotive parts experience.
- Proven sales ability in fulfilling customer transactions.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- ASE certification preferred but not required.
