Job Overview

The Benefits clerk is responsible for maintaining and operating a centralized reception area and telephone system. Additionally, the clerk will assist the Benefits Specialist and or the Benefits Supervisor with entering employee benefit information into the system. The Benefits clerk is responsible for filing, sorting and or preparing paperwork or enrollment forms. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position.

The Benefits clerk is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Orders all supplies for the property and Corporate office using Stratton Warren system
  • Delivers mail as required or requested
  • Answers all incoming telephone calls, takes messages, transfers calls
  • Greets and screens all visitors
  • Handles processing, sorting and completing of Benefit enrollment forms.
  • Acts as the contact person for answering Benefits questions or providing forms and information
  • Assists with special Benefit projects such as open enrollments
  • Handles all Federal Express billing utilizing Fed Ex software
  • Acts as contact person for couriers
  • Takes mail to post-office when requested or required
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the HR manager or HR Vice-President
  • Orders office supplies, equipment and machinery as needed or requested
  • Maintains inventory of supplies. Keeps accurate list of all supplies
  • Maintains the employee benefits filing system
  • Assembles and sends out COBRA packets and or other Benefits information when requested to do so
  • Assists with correspondence and faxes
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Requirements (Please Ensure You Meet The Listed Requirements Prior To Applying)
  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment
  • Actively enrolled in college degree program
    - preferred
  • One (1) year experience working in a professional office setting
    - required
  • The willingness and ability to take direction from multiple Managers
    - required
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc. A skills test will be administered with a 70% passing score
    - required
  • Experience with Stratton Warren system
    - preferred
  • Skilled in the operation of standard office machinery including a calculator, copier, facsimile, and other similar equipment
  • Must possess a high level of maturity and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be able to effectively work and communicate with other staff members and with the general public
  • Must have a valid and current State Driver’s License and an insurable driving record for purposes of driving company vehicles as required
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Must have a Tribal Gaming License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) as a requirement for this position
  • Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment
