In this role, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality inpatient care to cardiothoracic surgery patients. Your expertise will be vital in assisting with surgeries, rounding, coordinating care, and performing procedures such as vascular tissue retrieval, chest tube insertions, and first assist in the operating room. Flexible scheduling includes weekday, weekend, and night call shifts, enabling work-life balance and diverse clinical experiences.
The position employs the Cerner EMR system and requires rapid integration into a dynamic hospital setting.
Key Skills &
Qualifications:
- Valid Physician Assistant license in New Jersey (or ability to obtain quickly)
- Minimum of 2 years of surgical or cardiothoracic care experience
- Proficiency in procedures such as vascular tissue retrieval, chest tube placement, and surgical assistance
- Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in high-acuity environments
- Comfortable with documentation and EMR systems (Cerner preferred)
Skills:
- Prior experience in cardiothoracic or vascular surgery
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Knowledge of trauma or critical care settings
- Fluency in additional languages
Education & Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Recent experience in inpatient hospital or surgical units
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple patients effectively
- No need for licensure assistance; applicants must have active NJ PA license
- Availability for varied shifts, including weekends, nights, and call coverage
- Willingness to assist with emergent procedures and coordinate patient care in a high-demand environment
- Reliable transportation and adherence to hospital policies
