License Inspector

Under direction performs varied types of field and office work involved in ensuring that varied business premises comply with municipal license ordinances, rules, and regulations; does other related duties as required.

• Visits taverns, bowling alleys, pool rooms, and other licensed premises to ensure compliance with municipal or county license ordinances/rules/regulations.
• Receives and checks applications for types of licenses to be issued by the municipality.
• Determines eligibility for the issuance of licenses.
• Sorts and files applications for issued licenses.
• Collects license fees.
• Keeps books of account, thus checking the licenses issued against the amount of money collected.
• Prepares summonses and complaints against violators of license ordinances.
• May assist in the prosecution of violators of license regulations.
• Prepares clear, sound, accurate, and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Establishes and maintains records and files.
• Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
