Practice Details

• Setting: Inpatient / Hospital-based
• Average Patient Load: Operate on approximately 2 patients per day; round on 5?12 patients daily (ICU and floor), including consults
• Trauma Designation: None
• EMR System: Cerner

Schedule

• Weekdays: Monday ? Friday; 8?10-hour in-house shifts
• Night Call: 6:00 PM ? 6:00 AM
• Weekend Call: Friday 6:00 PM ? Monday 6:00 AM
• Includes rounding from 7:00 AM ? 12:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday
• Coverage Needs: Weekday, weekend, and night call coverage (varied shifts)

Required Procedures

• Retrieval of vascular tissues for use as a bypass conduit
• Endoscopic retrieval
• Chest tube insertions
• First assist in the OR for cardiac surgery

Primary Responsibilities

• Rounding and coordination of patient care
• Assist in surgery
• Diagnose and treat illnesses
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Write prescriptions
• Perform suture removal

Requirements

• NCCPA Certification ?
  Required
• Active New Jersey License ?
  Required (no time for licensing)
• CSR ?
  Required
• Minimum 2?3 years of cardiothoracic surgery experience, including proficiency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) and first assist ?
  Required
• Experience using Cerner EMR ? Preferred
• BLS and ACLS Certifications ? Required
• Mileage and tolls reimbursed; lodging available for the right candidate
