CDL Class A Heavy Haul Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator – Atlanta, GA

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Proven experience in equipment operation
  • Ability to travel
  • Knowledge of safety protocols in construction environments
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • CDL Class A required
  • Clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel to other job sites, overnight stays as required; must be able to travel 2‑4 weeks at a time
  • Comfortable working in outdoor conditions, including inclement weather
  • Must be drug‑free and able to pass pre‑employment and random DOT/FRA tests

Experience & Education

  • Minimum of 3 years of Class A CDL Heavy Haul driving experience
  • Minimum of 3 years operating construction equipment such as front‑end loaders, backhoes, skid steers, and excavators
  • Completion of training in heavy equipment operation or equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements
  • Proficient with computers and smartphones

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and front‑end loaders on railroad construction sites
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment safety and functionality
  • Adhere to OSHA, MSHA, and FRA safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule
  • Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues
  • Drive commercial vehicles to transport equipment and materials as required

This position requires you to be safety oriented, ready for work every day as assigned, and to work as a team while professionally representing STX. It is critical to the operation and requires the most attention to detail regarding moving equipment and materials to various job sites across the southeast.
