Overview
Hybrid 2-3x weekly in Atlanta, GA. Our client seeks a junior integration engineer to design and maintain RESTful APIs and connect internal and external systems across a modern platform. The role will contribute to integration development, data transformation, and L2 support while collaborating with product, QA, and partner teams. Candidates should bring hands-on Java and Spring Boot experience, API management exposure, and a willingness to learn tools across AWS and messaging.
The work supports scalable, reliable integrations that enable efficient data flow.
This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $65.00 to $48.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and maintain RESTful APIs for internal systems and third-party services.
- Collaborate with product teams, QA engineers, and external partners to deliver integration solutions and ensure seamless data exchange.
- Build and troubleshoot connectivity between internal systems and external partners.
- Implement data mapping and transformation logic for varied integration scenarios.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs, integration processes, and troubleshooting guides.
- Write unit tests, perform integration testing, and participate in code reviews.
- Monitor integration health, investigate issues, and provide L2 support for integration-related problems.
- Approximately 2 to 3 years of experience in API development and integrations.
- Proficiency in Java with exposure to Python or Node.js welcomed.
- Experience with API management platforms such as Apigee, Mule Soft, or AWS API Gateway.
- Hands-on experience with REST API design, development, and consumption.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and experience with Spring Boot.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as EKS, EC2, and Elasti Cache.
- Experience with message queues including Kafka, Rabbit
MQ, or SQS. - Experience with Postman and Swagger.
- Experience with Git for version control.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of authentication protocols such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API keys (preferred).
- Basic Dev Ops knowledge including Docker and CI/CD pipelines (preferred).
- Some exposure to Salesforce (preferred).
- Passion for the integration space and openness to learning new tools and technologies (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- AWS experience or training (preferred certification).
