Overview

This position sits within our Product Development division, which develops, tests, and improves our software solutions in an innovative and collaborative environment.

The Opportunity

The Intern will work closely with senior developers to build and maintain applications using a combination of standard application development technologies in a modern scaled agile environment. The Intern will also work with Software Engineers in Test to develop test strategies, create / update test automation code, execute tests (both automated and manual), and analyze / troubleshoot defects. Technologies include React/Redux, C#, Python, and Java.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Participate in product development in a team of professional Software Engineers
  • Pairing with Senior Engineers / SDETs to learn how we build and deliver world class solutions
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, UX Designers, and Engineering leaders to create solutions that delight our customers
  • Learn modern software delivery / testing practices for creating high-value, high-quality software
  • Employ techniques like Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD)
  • Gain product and application expertise through product documentation, internal collaboration, and customer feedback
  • Create clear and concise documentation for all engineering work
  • Develop test strategies / plans / scenarios and acceptance tests
  • Design, build, and execute test cases, including manual and automated frontend / backend tests on one or more application platforms, such as Desktop and Web
  • Create and maintain automated tests in Python / Pytest
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and report test results
  • Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines
  • Actively participate in design and code reviews to design and implement stable, testable, high-quality services and functionality
  • Operate within an Agile framework, adapting to iterative development cycles and contributing to team ceremonies
  • Pursue continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of industry standards and new technologies

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team

  • Currently working on a BS degree in Computer Sciences, programming, or a related discipline
  • An enthusiasm for learning real-world software development practices
  • Familiarity with software development employing one or more of the following technologies
  • Java Script
  • React/Redux
  • C#
  • Python
  • Java
  • Fundamental understanding of programming and Object-Oriented Programming Principles, Data Structures, and Algorithms
  • Good verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, working on a computer for extended periods of time. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • This position is hybrid with only occasional travel to the office for team meetings and events. Team members are expected to have an established workspace free of distractions with high bandwidth internet connection.
  • Team members are expected to attend regular online meetings.
  • Ability to work hybrid in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.
