About This Position
Manager, Application Engineering – Waystar
Responsible for leading a team of Application Engineers and QA resources to build award‑winning products for our clients. Managers are highly technical, roll up their sleeves, and ensure project success.
- Manage day‑to‑day team activities.
- Handle People Operations responsibilities (performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc.).
- Schedule projects, allocate resources, and monitor timelines; accountable for project outcomes.
- Motivate and guide team members through counseling, reviews, mentoring, and team‑building.
- Coach members to develop into senior/experienced resources.
- Collaborate with Business Product Owners to prioritize application development and enhancements.
- Work closely with other Technology Managers and stakeholders across departments.
- Help define and enforce policies for application quality, standards, and testing.
- Maintain technical expertise comparable to a Lead Application Engineer.
- Drive and improve processes within the team and broader Technology department.
- Provide training opportunities tailored to individual growth.
- Set priorities for Lead Application Engineers and mentor them in coaching others.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- 7+ years of .NET and SQL Server experience.
- 3+ years as a Technical Lead/Lead Engineer.
- Unit testing experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, change‑oriented environment.
- Highly self‑motivated.
- Comfortable working both independently and in a team.
- Experience building highly scalable software solutions.
- Subject‑matter expertise in at least one technical track.
- Capacity to lead a team of 3+ members.
- Planning and initiating multi‑quarter projects with a full project team.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- N‑Tier and SaaS development experience.
- Prior people‑leader experience.
