The Georgia Cancer Center – Mission

The Georgia Cancer Center is on a mission for providing industry-leading cancer research and care to benefit patients locally and globally. The team assembles custom groups of field experts to address each individual’s unique needs. The research and innovations aim to influence the global network of cancer care, including first-in-nation trials and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Job Summary

The Community Program Assistant position is designed to assist in administrative and technical work in support of community programs at the Georgia Cancer Center. This role supports assessment, capacity, planning, implementation, evaluation, and sustainability of community programs and interventions. Programs may include prevention work with alcohol, electronic cigarettes, opioids, prescription drugs, suicide, and/or cancer prevention. Work may involve interacting with elementary, middle, and high school students, all ages across the lifespan, and organizations such as faith-based groups, public housing, and the broader community.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule project visits. Weekly follow-up with community members. Data collection, entry, and quality control. Maintain project files. Lead group sessions with parents and students. Establish and maintain outstanding relationships with community partners. Attend meetings with community partners.
  • Attend staff training and research meetings. Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and community-engaged approaches.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
  • Ability to work independently, perform well under pressure, meet deadlines and exercise good judgment.
Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days;
Monday - Friday.

Pay Band: B6

Salary Minimum: $18.85 - $19.26

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
