The Maintenance and Operations Department is seeking (1)

The ideal candidate performs an advanced-level position installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems at a skilled manual work level. In addition to supporting the department,
Plummer II will also:
- Repair broken plumbing fixtures.
- Install new fixtures.
- Install hot water systems.
- Clean and drain obstructions in waste and sewage pipes.
- Operate pipe cutters and other plumbing equipment.
- Maintain records of completed work.
- Study building plans and working drawings to determine the sequence of installations.
- Locate and mark the position of pipes and pipe connections.
- Cut openings in floors and walls to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
- Cut, thread, and bend pipes to the required angle.
- Join pipes by using screws, bolts, fittings, etc.
- Fill pipes with air or water and use pressure gauges to determine the location of leaks.
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters.
- Replace washers in leaky faucets.
- Repair burst pipes and open clogged drains.
- Install sprinklers on campus grounds.
- Serve as a lead worker on plumbing projects.
- Estimate the time frame for plumbing projects.
- Inspect completed plumbing projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Technical or vocational degree and two years of related experience; or a high school diploma or GED and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
- Knowledge of standard tools, methods, and practices of the plumbing trade.
- Knowledge of plumbing codes.
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in the plumbing trade.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to climb steps and ladders.
- Ability to access confined spaces.
